During Blackfin kernel development, developers or kernel users should understand several important source repository trees.

This SVN tree is our main development repository. Blackfin Linux team maintain this repository. It has several branches according to the stable releases such as 08r1, 09r1. But we mainly talk about the SVN trunk head in this document.

This git tree is read only and always sync with Blackfin Project SVN trunk head tree. Developers only using git might like this.

This git tree is hosted in kernel.org and maintained by Bryan Wu cooloney@kernel.org. It has 3 important branches currently.

• master branch: This branch always sync with Linus mainline kernel git tree.
• for-linus branch: Blackfin arch related patches will be git pushed to this branch, then Linus will be requested to git pull from it to merge our Blackfin arch patches to mainline. linux-next git tree also git pull from this branch to do compile testing.
• guilt branch: This branch includes all the guilt patches maintained by Blackfin Linux project. The guilt patches were committed to this branch not stored as a series patchset. Patches here include drivers, nommu patches or some other hackings which can not be merged by mainline or subsystem upstream. So this branch provides all latest Blackfin Linux stuff anbd sync with the latest Linus mainline, it should be good to test some new kernel features on Blackfin.

There are almost hundreds of patches which developed by Blackfin Linux team. These patches are used by guilt tools in a series patchset format.
